The Great Falls Young Artist Showcase

The Great Falls Young Artist Showcase is intended to recognize and encourage the musical talent of young Montanans. The Young Artist Showcase is an opportunity for students to perform a solo work with orchestra in a live performance.
Open to Great Falls Youth Orchestra students who play any of the standard orchestral instruments. Student must be a member of the Great Falls Youth Orchestra. Priority is given to seniors.
Applications must be in the form of a letter. The letter must indicate what qualities the applicant would bring to a solo performance with the Youth Orchestra. The title of the repertoire to be played at the audition is to be included in the text of the letter. The letter must be received in the Great Falls Symphony office no later than 4:30pm on Friday, December 11, 2015.

One movement from a concerto or one-movement work for solo instrument and orchestra lasting between eight and fifteen minutes. It is suggested, but not required, that the piece prepared for the concert be played from memory. No unaccompanied works will be considered. The repertoire chosen by the applicant must be within the ability range of the Youth Orchestra (the Youth Orchestra music director is available for consultation on repertoire questions).
Wednesday, January 13, 2016. Mansfield Theater – Great Falls Civic Center. Applicants auditioning must be accompanied. Applicants are responsible for providing their own accompanists.
There will be two judges. The judges reserve the right not to award a performance.
Students who are chosen to present a solo with the Youth Orchestra will appear at the Spring concert on March 13, 2016.
